Darcie Parkhurst, AFO
Aquatic and Fitness Facility Director

Darcie is a 2000 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and a 2002 graduate of Wichita State University with a Masters Degree in Sports Administration. Her first job was a cashier at the Derby Municipal Pool. She has worked in recreation since 1992 and started her full time position at the Derby Recreation Commission in 2003. Her American Red Cross instructor certifications include Lifeguard Training, Waterpark Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor Trainer and Lifeguard Instructor Trainer. She maintains her certifications as a lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Outside of work, Darcie's number one priority is spending time with her husband and twins.

Kathy Zech, AFO
Aquatic Facility Coordinator

Kathy is a graduate of the University of Montana with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy. She worked in private practice physical therapy for 12 years in Idaho, with Hydro-Therapy being her passion. Eventually, she found herself and her husband on a sailboat sailing from Hawaii to Washington State and to Alaska the next eight years, enjoying every moment. She then found herself in Kansas to help care for her father-In-law. Missing the water, she came to the Derby Recreation Commission as an Aquatic Fitness Instructor, then a Manager at Rock River Rapids and now Aquatic Facility Coordinator. Kathy has had a wonderful experience since 2006 working full time at the Derby Recreation Commission and Rock River Rapids. Her American Red Cross certifications include Lifeguard Training, Water park Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and Aquatic Fitness Instructor. She also has her Aquatic Exercise Association certificate and Aquatic Facility Operations certificate.

Tonya Sullivan, AFO
Aquatic Program Coordinator

Tonya is a 2006 graduate of Fort Hays State University with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation and Sports Management and a 2008 graduate of Wichita State University with a Masters in Sports Administration. She has been working for the Derby Recreation Commission since 2008 and loves the interaction with people. She has conquered two marathons and hopes in the near future she will finish a Half-Ironman. She spends most of her time running, working or having quality family time. Her certifications are: Aquatic Facility Operator, Lifeguard and Waterpark Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor and Aquatic Fitness Instructor.
